Sugar Cookie Bars

This is the first recipe review I am sharing on Sugared Polish. One of the reasons I chose the name Sugared Polish for my blog is because I love to bake and always seem to have some sort of sugar on my polish. I plan on posting more recipes I've tried along with polish hauls, manis, and product reviews.

I saw this recipe for Sugar Cookie bars all over Pinterest and tracked it down to Love & Olive Oil's blog. I've made her cookie dough truffles before (to die for) so I knew I couldn't go wrong with this recipe.

The only changes I made to the recipe was I halved it (there's only two of us so 32 bars was out of the question!) and baked it in a square 9"x9" pan. My pan is dark nonstick so I baked the bars at 350 for about 20 min. I cut the bars in to 9 (BIG) pieces, but you could totally cut them smaller. I *might* have dug through my sprinkles and picked all of the pink hearts out of Valentine sprinkle mix for the red jimmies. The bars ended up being tasty and super easy. Much less work than individual cookies and the original recipe makes enough to share.

Have you baked anything delicious recipes lately? Feel free to leave links in the comments. I love trying new recipes!

Calgon Ageless Bath Body Scrub and Soak - Review

I have a confession to make. I am a scrubaholic. Any time I see a body scrub I have to buy it! Even though I know I could whip up some salt & oil in my kitchen and save some money. When I like a scrub I rarely buy it again because there are more for me to try! That being said this is my second jar of Calgon
Ageless Bath Body Scrub and Soak. Whew that is a long name! I found it at my local Target and was afraid they might not carry it anymore because it's been missing from the shelf for a few weeks. On my last shopping trip I saw one lonely jar sitting on the shelf. Needless to say I gladly rescued it.

I love that it is scrubby and moisturizing without being heavy and greasy. I dislike body scrubs that leave your skin feeling like an oil slick. Being able to use it in the bath and shower is a huge plus in my book. Sure you can use any scrub in the bath, but again the oily type just make a ring in your tub. The one small complaint that I have is with the jojoba esters. They don't dissolve when the scrub is used so they end up all over my tub when the water drains out. It's a minor flaw and is not going to keep me from repurchasing the scrub.

Blue Jelly Samich

Today I have my first "jelly sandwich" to share with you. The results are soo pretty, but this technique makes for long drying time because of the multiple polish layers. I started out with two coats of Loreal "Waters Edge", followed by a layer of Kleancolor "Starry Blue", a layer of Revlon "Sheer Seafoam", and one last layer of a matte topcoat.

FingerPaints - Summer in the City

Finger Paints: Sexy Sundress, To-Teally Hot, & Late Night Rendez-Vous

Sally Girl: In Love & (no name)

California Mango Magic Cuticle Treatment Oil

My local Sally Beauty flyer featured some new Finger Paints polishes. I picked up a few of the colors. I don't have any spring/summer greens so I can't wait to wear Sexy Sundress. Have you tried any of the new colors yet? So far I am enjoying the cuticle oil. It smells great and the small size is nice before committing to a giant bottle that will last a long time.

Sally Beauty Haul

Orly: Love Each Other & Fifty Four China Glaze: Re-fresh Mint Barielle: Advanced Top Coat Pro

Sally's was having a buy one get two free sale on their polishes so I couldn't resist picking a few up. I don't have many Orly polishes and the sparkles were calling my name. Re-fresh Mint is a classic and I wanted a polish with green tones without being GREEN. I like to try out different top coats and saw that Sally's is now carrying Barielle. I'll let you know what I think of the topcoat.

Sally's Haul - Finger Paints

Finger Paints: Pop Rock Pink, Prints & Printsess, Circus Peanuts, & Grape Gumball.

I have been dying to get my fingers on some of the new Finger Paints Gum Drops & Lollipops collection polishes. They are exclusive to Sally Beauty, but when I asked my local store if they were going to carry them the sales lady looked at me like I had three eyeballs. I was debating buying them online until I got a flyer in the mail announcing a new store opening across town. I was SO excited to find that the new store had most of the colors. I picked up three, but wanted them all. Prints & Printsess is not part of the collection, I'm just on a quest to find a nice peach or tangerine for my skin tone.

small Rite-Aid haul

Rite-Aid had some polish deals this week so I picked up a few new (to me) polishes. I think I will try a subtle mani with Walk on the Beach and Galactic on accent nails. I'm curious about the disco polish...it has "black light nail polish" written on the bottle. Does it glow?
